The Australian Nugget (Kangaroo) was first issued in 1986 and after initial difficulties became one of the most liquid bullion coins. The Perth Mint conferred the Nugget popularity round the world due to its kangaroo motif. The motifs of the Nugget vary. Only the larger 2 oz, 10 oz and 1 kg denominations display the same motif of the “Red Kangaroo”.
