The Maple Leaf has also been available as a platinum coin since 1988. Mintage ceased in 1999, but the Royal Canadian Mint began mintage again in 2009. Denomination and face value correspond to those of the gold Maple Leaf. As usual, one side displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and a maple leaf appears on the other. The 1 oz coin has a face value of CAD 50.
